More Throughput, Less Power! HD technology keeps getting better!
Mobile Satellite Connection provides 2008 U.S. Open coverage to the World in High Definition.
Mobile Satellite Connection, a long-time provider of high-quality satellite transmissions, had the opportunity to utilize DVB S2 technology from Newtec to offer 40 Mbps HD signals in 18 Mhz of bandwidth. Both the USGA and SKY Sports took advantage of this technology and were rewarded with increased payload and transmission efficiency.
Mobile Sat was also fortunate to be involved in a project that included both HD and SD multiplexed feeds. This aggressive undertaking consisting of a 3 channel HD mux at 80 Mbps and a 4 channel SD mux at 80 Mbps which were transmit simultaneously from Mobile Sat’s TES 11 to 4 different downlink locations - including ESPN, DirecTV, Dish Network and Comcast.
Imagine 160 Mbps from one Uplink. Using Newtec’s DVB S2 Modulators and High Quality Mpeg 2 encoding from Tandberg, Tiernan and Adtec Digital gives us the ability to offer an even wider range services to Broadcast Television industry than ever before.
